Once we were also in his rickshaw, where an old man cycled ahead of us. we didn’t like it at all(shamed us), but he was thrilled with a paid ride.
I understand your scruples in using this means of locomotion… but it is the job he chose to live and feed his family, so on the contrary, we must not be embarrassed and take two taxis if necessary, because we are heavy, we Westerners.

I am use to seeing the pull type of rickshaw but this bicycle one looks like a nice adaptation and would require less effort IF the bicycle has a variety of gears. When I was a kid, I use to own a bicycle with only one gear and it was difficult to pedal up a hill.
Of course I didn’t have the opportunity to take a bike-taxi like this one, but when I met them in town, I realised that he was making a lot of effort… it’s not an easy job, quite the contrary.
